Background to Fleet Pond Society (FPS):
Fleet Pond Society was formed in 1976 to help maintain Fleet Pond Local Nature Reserve and works in close co-operation with Hart Countryside Services. It is a Registered Charity and its Patron is Chris Packham, the well-known TV-presenter, photographer and author.
The Society runs a wide range of activities including organising volunteer conservation events, guided walks, educational visits to schools, research on environmental and wildlife matters and corporate team building events. The current membership is over 450 (plus one corporate member to date) and the Society maintains both this blog and a web site.

- Eligibility to submit articles for the newsletter – we are always looking for new authors and photographers!
Individual and household membership is £10 per year (plus £5 for postage for postal members) and corporate membership is £35 per year (which has in addition 6 copies of each newsletter, a guided walk for staff can be arranged free of charge, a copy of the Fleet Pond booklet and a ‘Wildlife of Fleet Pond ‘ poster).

FLEET POND SOCIETY PRIVACY STATEMENT
FLEET POND SOCIETY will be what is known as the ‘Controller’ of the personal data you provide to us. We collect only basic personal data about you which does not include any special types of information or location-based data. This does however include names, addresses and email addresses.
Why we need your data
We need to know your basic personal data to provide you with on-going organisational updates, newsletters, bulletins, subscription reminders, etc in line with the overall contract between us. We will not collect any personal data from you which we do not need to provide and oversee these services to you.
What we do with your data
All personal data you provide to us is processed by our committee. However for the purposes of IT website hosting and email communication this information may be stored on servers within the UK. No third parties have access to your data unless the law allows them to do so.
If a Gift Aid claim has been made we need to retain your data for a number of years to comply with HMRC regulations.
How long we keep your data
If you cease to be a member of the Society either implicitly (by failing to pay your annual subscription) or explicitly (by requesting that your membership be terminated) your data may be retained for a reasonable period of time to allow us to contact you to see if you wish to renew your membership of the Society.
What are your rights?
If at any point you believe the information we process on you is incorrect you can request to see this information (ACCESS) and have it corrected (RECTIFICATION) or deleted (FORGOTTEN). (Please note that if you request that your personal data be deleted we will no longer be able to contact you and you will effectively cease to be a member of the Society)
If you have a complaint on how we have handled your personal data you can contact us to have the matter investigated.
